Four-day training for enumerators and field supervisors on SLB Connect - Conducting Citizen Feedback Surveys Using Innovative Mobile-to- Web System was successfully conducted from 18th to 21st November, 2014. At the outset, the trainingâs outcomes were clearly defined and communicated to every participant as:
Overall, the training aimed to impart skills to the enumerators and field supervisors to use SLB connect mobile app to collect citizenâs feedback on delivery and service satisfaction level of water and sanitation. During the training rationale, vision, project requirements and expectations from SLB Connect were also shared with the participants. The training included technical sessions on the SLB Connect Mobile app;sampling;survey methodology and questionnaire. In all, fifteen sessions covering these focus areas were held employing a mix of participatory interactive lectures, presentations, field visits, debriefings and Q & A sessions. Tools such as FIRO-B were used to develop clarity on essential qualities of a good enumerator and supervisor. In order to have hands on experience on the use of mobile app, a half day field visit was conducted covering slum and non- slum areas in two wards of Jaipur on the third day of the training. During the field visit participants practically used the learnings of the training and implemented them in collecting citizenâs feedback using mobile apps. These sessions were facilitated by PRIA and WSP. This rich experience of working in the field helped in building their confidence level.
Towards the end of the training participants were evaluated based on the gain in knowledge with the help of an evaluation exercise. All participants performed well in the evaluation and scored more than the qualifying score.
There was unanimous consensus among participants about the training lending a strong understanding of SLB Connect, project requirements and project expectations. The workshop concluded with re-iterating the importance of all enumerators and field supervisors claiming ownership over the project and carrying it out with utmost motivation.
The workshop was attended by 38 participants and was voted as being both informative and motivating. Participants included members from Garib Nawaz Mahila Avam Bal Kalyan Samiti (GNMABKS), Ajmer; Shikshit Rozgar Kendra Prabandhak Samiti (SRKPS), Jhunjhunu PRIA; WSP; and independent consultants of WSP.
